A view of blue and white vessels with turquoise, İznik - Glazed, 1530-1545 (Mid 16th Century) in Museum of Islamic Art (in the Tiled Kiosk - Çinili Köşk) Istanbul Archaeology Museums in Şehr-i İstanbul Turkey.
This group was erroneously known as Damascuus Ware ~Turkish: Şam İşi or Şam işi olarak bilinen çok renkli kaplar~ because of the resemblance to the tiles decorating certain buildings in Damascus. The vessels are made of hard fine white clay and are decorated with large pomegranate and artichoke motifs freely drawn in Turquoise, Sage Green and Purple, used here for the first time, on a white background.
