A view of one of various types of vessels in Tiled Kiosk ~Turkish: Çinili Köşk~ Archaeology Museums Istanbul. Kütahya, Glazed Second Half of 18th century - 19th Century (Kütahya yapımı sırlı 18.yüzyıl ikinci yarısı - 19.yüzyıl Çeşitli kaplardan birisi, Sırlı Kapaklı Yeşil Kase). In contrast to increased output of wall tiles at the beginning of the 18th century, the quality of production did not noticeably improve, tiles being similar to earlier production. Items dating from the second half of the 18th century until the mid 19th century display deterioration of colour and design, as well as being more crude in form. In particular, ewers and bowls decorated in black on turquoise underglaze are representative of the taste of the period.
Throughout the 19th century traditional Turkish Motifs predominate, designs being outlined in black on transparent underglaze. The decoration on vessels produced at the beginning of the 20th century is of two distinctly different types. On the one hand, there are free designs not derived from any specific source, while on the other hand we have compositions covering the entire surface, which are largely geometric.
