The Haydarpaşa Terminal or Haydarpaşa Station (Turkish: Haydarpaşa Garı or Haydarpaşa Tren İstasyonu) is a major intercity rail station and transportation hub in Kadıköy, İstanbul. Trains are an integral part of urban life. Last year the historic terminal suffered severe damage to its roof after a fire broke out on November 28. Officials said the fire burned an area of about 800 to 1,000 square meters on the roof, though it did not spread to the lower floors. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
