The name Otağtepe derived from Marquee (Otağ) and Hill (Tepe) in Ottoman Period. In 1394, Sultan Bayezid I laid siege to Constantinople (Istanbul), the capital of the Byzantine Empire. Anadoluhisarı fortress was built between 1393 and 1394 as part of preparations for the Second Ottoman Siege of Constantinople, which took place in 1395. During preparation for the siege, Ottoman Army built his sultan's marquee on a hill. Unfortunately, the siege was able to incomplete because of the Timur Threat coming from the East. After the years, the hill where sultan's marquee which built on the hill has been called as Otağtepe (Marqueehill).
