The art of Turkish Ceramic Tiles came to Anatolia with the Seljuks, provided its most successful beautiful examples through various techniques and was enriched with innovative impulses in the Ottoman arts. Various techniques were used in the art of Turkish Ceramic Tiles within the centuries. In case of the first samples the use of vitrified clay tiles draw attention. Apart from that, it is also seen that techniques as high level cut mosaic tiles formed by gathering parts of plate tiles on a gypsum floor, which had previously been vitrified with turquoise, purple, green, dark blue colors and cut as to the desired illustration. The cut mosaic technique was commonly used on religious constructions, whereas geometric ceramic tile plates as stars, hacvaris, hexagons and rectangles were used to cover walls of civil buildings as manor houses and palaces. On religious buildingis rather geometrical compositions, curled branch figures enriched with abstract plant motifs as burgeons and palmets were used, but additioanally place was also given to very impressive decorations made with bold kufic and sulus writings.
