A view of some miniature Traditional Houses of Safranbolu at Miniatürk in springtime (Turkish: İlkbahar mevsiminde minyatür Geleneksel Safranbolu Karabük Evleri'nin Miniatürk Maket Park'ta bir görüntüsü). The park is a miniature theme park situated at the north-eastern shore of Golden Horn, literally Turkish Haliç or Altın Boynuz, in Şehr-i Istanbul, Turkey.
Safranbolu is a typical Ottoman city that has survived to the present day, District of Karabük Province in the Black Sea Region of Turkey. It is about two hundred kilometers north of Ankara and about a hundred kilometers south of the Black Sea coast, or more precisely about 9 kilometers north of the city of Karabük. Former Turkish names of the town were Zalifre and Taraklıborlu and in Greek Saframpolis, Σαφραμπολις. During its apogee in the 17th century, Safranbolu's architecture influenced urban development throughout much of the Ottoman Empire. Traditional Ottoman Houses also display an interesting interaction between the topography and the historic settlement. By virtue of its key role in the caravan trade over many centuries, Safranbolu enjoyed great prosperity and as a result it set a standard in public and domestic architecture that exercised a great influence on urban development over a large area of the Ottoman Empire. The Traditional Houses of Safranbolu were made a World Heritage site, literally Turkish Dünya Kültür Mirası, by UNESCO on December 17, 1998.
