Phanar (Fener or even Fanar, Greek Φανάριον / Phanarion, Φανάρι / Phanari) is a neighborhood in the Fatih District of Şehr-i Istanbul, Turkey. After the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans in 1453, the elite of the Greek population moved into the Phanar Neighborhood. As well as the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople in this district, drew the line of patriarchy as Phanar is called. The neighborhood was also the famous Greek Phanar College, where not only the offspring of the Greek and Bulgarian Phanariotes was trained.
